My Amazon smile shaped hike while listening to the book Fulfillment, discussing the damage Amazon has done across the US.
Got a late start today because I was feeling a bit tired this morning. It’s so nice to have that flexibility.
Hiking is such a strange thing. I feel like usually english is more soft than German. However, the German word, “Wandern”, is a bit softer than “Hike” and gives more of an aimless and explorative feel. I want to wander around in the woods more, fighting my impulse to do a long named route or go to a faraway point. I’ll admit, it’s much easier to do that in Switzerland because you can get anywhere from anywhere.
In Interlaken, our train was 3 minutes delayed. It’s fun to watch the swiss people on the platform confused looking into the distance to see what could have possibly happened on their railway. Sure enough, a DB ICE pulls up to the platform a few minutes later, providing an obvious explanation for the delay.
Also, why they building wooden fire stations here?
Note that the last few pictures are from yesterday evening in Freiburg, not from Switzerland. Germany can be quite beautiful as well.
